“Fall Sports Fest a Big Success”
With 350 to 400 children and adults with physical disabilities in attendance, the first annual East Texas Fall Sports Fest was a huge success. Participants from as far away as Dallas, Texas to Shreveport, Louisiana converged on Gladewater, Texas September 21, 2002 for a day of adaptive water shiing, hand cycling, kayaking, archery, air rifles, and horseback riding, and the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation provided shoreline fishing for everyone in attendance.
“This is a great opportunity for all organizations to come together for a day, to provide these activities for people with disabilities” stated Art Pasley, Southern Director for the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation. “We were delighted to be a part of this event stated Pasley, and the fishing activity provided by C.A.S.T. for Kids proved to be a big success, not only with the children but the adults as well”. Many had the opportunity to fish for the first time and the thrill of catching that first fish was experienced by several of the participants.
Judy Moffett, event coordinator and her staff, have worked tirelessly for many months planning the event. Judy and POWER, Inc. are a non-profit group dedicated to providing activities for people with disabilities, in Texas. “We were thrilled to have the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation participate in this years program,” stated Ms. Moffett.
Other participants in this year’s program were the Tyler Ambucks, Challenged Sportsman, Wallace’s Saddle-up, Adaptive Sports Group and the local Boy Scout Troop of Gladewater.
