C.A.S.T. EVENT MAKES A DIFFERNCE AT ELEPHANT BUTTE

Our C.A.S.T. for kids event was an outstanding success. We had 25 or was that 26 kids and 14 or was it 15 boats....whew anyway we got them all on the lake with experienced fishermen and fed them hamburgers and hotdogs when they returned. Smokey Bear showed up and NM Game & Fish Biologist Casey Hawthorne entertained as well as educated them. Thanks to outstanding community support and tireless efforts of volunteers we have another event in the books (this was our 4th annual).
Marina Del Sur generously allowed us the have the event at the marina again this year. State Parks spearheaded this event through Boating Officer Chris Bolen and his wife Helen. Volunteers Steve Hayner, Bobby Hagar, Phil Mortensen and Craig Weisner (photographer) were integral in making everything run smoothly. Special thanks to the Elephant Butte Bass Anglers, Albuquerque Hawg Hunters and others who provided their boats, time and expertise. I can't say thank you enough. I know it made a difference in the lives of the kids. We are looking forward to next year's event.

Thank you,
