"WBFA is Classic C.A.S.T. Event"
What better group of boaters for a C.A.S.T. for Kids event, than the woman of the WBFA Tour. With the top 34 touring professional woman anglers in the world, Willie Cook and his staff conducted a Classic C.A.S.T. event in Shreveport, Louisiana, kicking off the 2003 WBFA World Championship. "C.A.S.T. for Kids is a great program," stated Willie, President of the WBFA. "Our ladies look forward to the event each year."
For the past three years, the WBFA Classic has kicked off their week long tournament with a C.A.S.T. for Kids event for local children in the area. This year, children from the Providence House in Shreveport received the chance of a lifetime. The kid's faces just lit up when they arrived to see the boats lined up along the water front, waiting to be paired with a professional woman angler, for a day of fun and fishing. Each child was outfitted with a Zebco Rod & Reel, a Plano Tackle Box, C.A.S.T. for Kids Hat and T-shirt and paired with one of the woman stated to compete in this years Classic. The WBFA had goodie bags for everyone, and after a brief pairings session, the kids were loaded in the boats and were off for boat rides, fishing and fun.
Upon their return, with Willie Cook as the official weigh master, they were able to experience a real live weigh-in, showing off their catch for the day. With hot dogs drinks, chips & drinks looming in the pavilion, the weigh-in went pretty quickly, although there was plenty of time for pictures and interviews. As soon as the awards presentations, of individual plaques for the kids were completed, the local Shiners mini car club was on hand to provide rides for each child.
"I don't think the kids have had this much fun in a long time," stated one of the chaperones from the Providence House. "This is good, and what a fun day for everyone.". What more could I add to that. Thank you Willie and all the woman of the WBFA.
