Puget Sound

Salmon Fishing In Des Moines
It was going to be a great day on the water, I said to myself as my alarm clock was going off at 5 am. This was the first time we had a C.A.S.T. Event where the kids were going out on the Pacific Ocean to fish for Salmon.
When I reached the Des Moines Yacht Club, the volunteers where there and ready to go. As the kids started to show up, they were matched up with their Boat Captain and headed down to the marina to get out on the water. The weather was perfect, sunny and warm, and the fish were biting as it was in the peak of Salmon season on Puget Sound. We had a small group this year, but this was the first year of the event, and I was satisfied knowing that by next year, the word would spread and we would have more participants.
When the kids headed back to the marina with their catch, the BBQ was in full swing thanks to the donation from Fred Meyers. We handed out plaques at the end of the day, and there were smiles on everyone's faces. The kids and the boaters had the best time of their lives, and were already marking their calendars for next year.
Thanks to everyone who made this event possible, especially the Puget Sound Anglers and the Des Moines Yacht Club for all the hard work they put in.
