Ridgway Reservoir

By: Justyn Hock - Bureau of Reclamations

I wanted to let you all know that we had a great CAST Fishing day on Tuesday, September 12th. The event was held at Ridgway State Park and we had about 35 kids and almost as many adults. The day was perfect, it was warm and sunny. You never know what kind of weather you will get at Ridgway.
About five kids caught fish, not as many as we would have liked, but everyone had fun being in the outdoors and learning how to use their fishing pole. We all had a special treat, Ingrid the therapy dog spent the day with us, entertaining everyone and even wearing a clown outfit!
After working up an appetite fishing, we had a lunch of pizza, veggies, and cookies. Then we had an awards ceremony where all the volunteers received a t-shirt and the children got a plaque to remember the day.
We had many volunteers from Ridgway State Park, Division of Wildlife, Friends of Ridgway State Park, and Reclamation. We wouldn't have been able to have our fishing day with out the generous donations from Western Slope Anglers and Friends of Ridgway State Park, Thank you!
