Catching the Moment at Mark Twain Lake!
Have you ever experienced one of the moments that make your heart swell? When the joy is so apparent others can catch it too? We did, at the 6th Annual CAST For Kids at Mark Twain Lake on September 29, 2007. The weather was a little breezy but the kids didn't seem to mind. They had only one thing on their mind - fishing. It's exciting to get a new rod and reel and tackle. The shirt is pretty cool too! Some kids, like Cassie, were return guests and knew what to expect. The new kids were just as wound-up - they sensed that this was not just another day. The joy is building. The volunteers can't wait to take the kids and their parents out on the water. They want the kids to know the excitement in reeling in a fish and when they do the fisherman feel that joy too because the kids can't contain it all. The parents are as happy to see their kids interact with other kids and adults and having so much fun.
When the fishing was over the group returned to the picnic are for a grilled hotdog lunch. The kids were presented with a picture of them with their fishing buddy. You can see the joy then, but when the kids get to present a duplicate picture to their buddy it's one of those moments. This moment is one when the hearts swells with happiness. The kids and the volunteers and the sponsors are just glowing with joy and we've caught the moment!
