PRINEVILLE CAST EVENT 2007
The length and intensity of the smile was equal to the size of the fish and the joy in the fishing at Prineville Reservoir in Central Oregon. On July 15th the 10th CAST (Catch A Special Thrill) sent twenty-nine boats filled with excited fishermen rhythmically sliding into the water for a great day of fishing. This year we had a boat for every one including 4 Pontoon boats and enough hands to lift motorized wheelchairs, kid and all up and into the boat.
After a morning of fishing the Kiwanis Club of Prineville had a great barbecue ready for a hungry crew. All102 kids and families plus volunteers from Central Oregon Boat Club, other Boat Captains, Crook County Search and Rescue, Crook County Sheriffs Office, Prineville State Park and teen youth from Mt. Bachelor Academy ate well.
The afternoon came to an end with a tribute to Barbara Lesser, the CAST coordinator for 6 years. That morning many stories had been shared about Barbara by family and friends. Thanks to Ron Eggers for tying all the thoughts together in your tribute. A true and lasting memorial to Barbara was present in the participation of new and returning families and volunteers in a full day of recreation on a Reclamation Reservoir.
